Slow fade.

This is one of my favourite songs from one of my favourite Christian bands, Casting Crowns, a soft-rock ballad (I think. Never very good at genres) entitled “Slow Fade”.

Other than the beautiful, at-times haunting melody (which is always my first criteria when it comes to a song) and the sample of “If You’re Happy and You Know It Clap Your Hands” at the end, the lyrics are very poignant and really speaks to our generation.

The song (and I’m usually not one to place emphasis on the words of a song) talk about how people never crumble in a day. It’s always over a long period of time through gradual, even too-subtle degenerations. It warns us to always be vigilant about ourselves and never allow ourselves to be caught off guard by what isn’t good.

(Ok actually I think it’s talking about not having affairs and stuff but we can choose to read it in different ways that relate to us yeah?)

Christian or not, have a listen to the song. It can speak to you no matter what your religion is.
