The McFlurry has always been one of my favourite components of McDonald’s menu. Although my all-time favourite choco-mint flavour is gone, the Oreo one remains probably the most common thing I still order from Mickey D’s. So, when I heard that they were coming out with a durian-flavoured one, I had to give it a try. Sure, MacD’s spinoff desserts have always been a bit of a miss but, being Singaporean, I had to try this at least once.
It…was pretty forgettable, alas. While the taste wasn’t terrible or anything, it definitely felt like it had more inspiration from the durian cake flavour than actual durians. The cereal bits are genius, though. IMO, anything that can cereal inside should (I mean, it’s what makes Gong Cha’s golden ovaltine so…golden).
While we’re on the subject of desserts there, McCafé has an awesome green tea frappé which has a slightly less overwhelming green tea taste like some of the rest and yet still packs a pretty strong, sweet punch. At $4+ for a regular-sized one (if I remember correctly), it’s also a couple of dollars cheaper than its Starbucks counterpart which is a pretty good deal! Good to try if you need a tasty, wallet-friendly dessert.
